The Tokyo Olympic 2020 started on the 24th of July, 2021. The Olympics 2020 was supposed to be held in 2020, but due to the Corona Virus situation, it had to be postponed. 

The Olympics happen in every 4-year gap. It is an event for all the countries. All the dates of the events have been pre-planed for a long time now, taking into account the popularity of different events, the rules and regulations of various International Federations, the global TV audience, and the well-being of the athletes.

India In Tokyo Olympics 2020

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu Opened up with the First Silver Medal for Indian in Tokyo Olympics 2020 on Day1. She won the women’s 49kg weightlifting event. Total 127participants are representing India in the Tokyo Olympics out of which 67 are male and 52 female participants reported. Till now, India has only won 1 silver medal. Although Bhavani Devi wins India’s First ever fencing match on July 26th, she loses at Round of 32 Sabre Individual to World No.3 Manon Brunet of France. She is the First ever Indian Fencer to be at the Games, got ranked 42.

Some of the Indian participants are from archery: Men’s Recurve participants are Tarundeep Rai, Atanu Das, Pravin Jadhav, and Deepika Kumari for Women’s Recurve. From Athletics:

Participants for Men’s 20km race walking are KT Irfan, Sandeep Kumar, Rahul Rohilla, and Bhawna Jat and Priyanka Goswami for Women’s 20km race walking, Avinash Sable in Men’s 3000m steeplechase, Murali Sreeshankar in Men’s long jump, MP Jabir in Men’s 400m hurdles, Neeraj Chopra and Shivpal Singh in Men’s javelin throw, Annu Rani in Women’s javelin throw, Tajinderpal Singh Toor in Men’s shot put.

Dutee Chand in Women’s 100m and 200m, Kamalpreet Kaur in Women’s discus throw, Seema Punia in Women’s discus throw. From Badminton: PV Sindhu in Women’s singles, B Sai Praneeth in Men’s singles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in Men’s doubles.
